The Congress will launch a mass outreach programme across Assam from Saturday to directly engage with citizens, stakeholders, and party workers, state president Gaurav Gogoi announced on Friday.
The initiative, part of the ongoing campaign ‘Raijor Podulit, Raijor Congress’ (People’s Congress at People’s Doorstep), aims to build a “people-driven manifesto” through structured, statewide consultations ahead of the assembly elections expected early next year.
Consultations will start with a focus on Assam’s higher education system, addressing issues such as quality, research, and innovation. Gogoi said interactions with college and university students indicate a need for stronger academic standards and empowerment for self-reliance.
The outreach will be conducted via five parallel field teams, each assigned a geographic route using buses to cover Upper Assam, Central Assam, Barak Valley, Bodoland, Hill districts, and Lower Assam. A coordination team will monitor operations, ensuring one district is covered per day.

Since launching the campaign in Dibrugarh on December 6, the party has also set up a digital platform for citizens to submit their views online and initiated the installation of “Aspiration Boxes” across districts. Over 4,000 boxes will be placed at marketplaces, tea garden lines, bus stops, and other high-footfall areas.
Gogoi urged Assam residents to participate actively. “We envision a state where the aspirations of all people are reflected. This platform allows us to connect with everyone digitally,” he said.
The party plans to listen to farmers, workers, students, entrepreneurs, women, intellectuals, and social organisations to collectively design a roadmap for a new Assam.
