A Babbar Khalsa International terrorist, wanted in several serious crimes, has been extradited from the UAE, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said on Saturday.
The accused, Parminder Singh alias Pindi, is a close aide of foreign-based terrorists Harwinder Singh alias Rinda and Happy Passia. He was brought from Abu Dhabi with the help of central agencies, Yadav said in a post on X.
Pindi was linked to many serious crimes, including petrol bomb attacks, violent assaults, and extortion cases in Batala and Gurdaspur.
“Acting swiftly on a Red Corner Notice (RCN) requested by the Batala police, a dedicated four-member team led by a senior police officer travelled to the UAE on September 24, coordinated with the Ministry of External Affairs and the UAE authorities. After completing all legal formalities, the police team successfully brought the accused back to face justice,” Yadav said.
According to police, Pindi was involved in criminal and terror activities for years, and his role grew stronger in the Batala–Gurdaspur region until 2023. He was identified as the local handler of a terror funding module supported by Pakistan-based terrorist Rinda and gangster Happy Passia. He was also behind attacks on liquor shops in September and October 2023. A 10-day police operation after these incidents led to the arrest of five of his associates.
After fleeing India, Pindi remained absconding for almost a year. On June 13, 2025, Interpol issued a Red Corner Notice at the request of Punjab Police. He was later arrested in the UAE and extradited to India on September 26.
