A CBI court in Chandigarh has remanded suspended Punjab DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar in judicial custody till November 20. The CBI produced Bhullar in court after his five-day remand in a disproportionate assets case came to an end.
The CBI had arrested Bhullar and his alleged aide, Kirshanu Sharda, on October 16 for seeking a bribe from a scrap dealer.
Narender Singh, the public prosecutor for the CBI, argued that the accused should not be released because of his influential position and requested the court to send him in judicial custody. He said the accused did not cooperate with the investigating agency during the remand. The court had also sent Sharda to judicial custody on Monday.
