A police team in Rohtak district arrested five alleged criminals on Friday during a routine patrol and foiled a plan to target a businessman’s garment shop.
As per the police, around 5:10 am, a team from the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA-1), Rohtak, was patrolling in the Sadar police station area when they noticed five men in a car behaving suspiciously on the Jassia–Dhamar road.
When the police team approached the suspects, the armed men opened fire on them. The police retaliated in self-defence, injuring one of the suspects in the right leg.
All five accused were soon overpowered and arrested. Police recovered a country-made pistol, three cartridges, one sword, three sticks, and a car from their possession.
The initial probe revealed that the gang was acting on the directions of Akshay, a resident of Jhajjar who is currently abroad, and Naresh alias Sethi, who is lodged in Jhajjar jail.
Police said the arrested men had been instructed to open fire at a garment shop owned by a local businessman.
Those arrested have been identified as Sahil, who suffered a bullet injury, and his accomplices Praveen, Gourav, Mohit, and Sunny — all residents of Rohtak district.
