Young cricketer Mohammed Izhar from Supaul, Bihar, has been selected as a net bowler for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. His selection has sparked immense joy and pride among his family and the local community.
Chennai Super Kings, the five-time IPL champions, are set to begin their campaign against arch-rivals and fellow five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) at the iconic Chepauk Stadium on March 23.
In preparation for the tournament, CSK has enlisted Izhar as a net bowler, providing him with a valuable opportunity to train alongside top-tier cricketers and gain crucial exposure that could propel his career forward.

Family’s reaction to Izhar’s selection
Izhar’s mother, Shabnam Khatun, expressed her overwhelming joy at her son’s achievement. She said, “We never expected this moment. He has faced numerous struggles and hardships to reach this stage. We are truly happy. He always assured us that he would make us proud, and my blessings are with him.”
His brother, Saad Aalam, echoed similar sentiments, stating that he hopes Izhar will eventually represent India at the international level. “We are delighted by his selection. He has worked extremely hard to get here,” he added.

Izhar’s uncle, Mohammed Jahangir, recalled the young cricketer’s unwavering dedication to the sport.
“He always wanted to play cricket, and despite our concerns about his studies, he never gave up. He was selected for the Bihar state team in 2019-2020, and from there, he continued to progress with the support of many well-wishers. We hope he makes it to the Indian national team one day and brings even greater pride to our family and community,” he stated.

Izhar’s achievement has also drawn appreciation from state leaders. Bihar Minister Neeraj Kumar Bablu congratulated the young cricketer, praising his determination and success.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Izhar for making his district and state proud. We hope he continues to excel in his career. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always encouraged sports and young athletes, inspiring them to play with passion and dedication. We look forward to honoring Izhar when he returns,” the minister said.
