Bishnoi gang claims responsibility for blasts in Chandigarh

Lawrence Bishnoi gang takes responsibility for blast at Chandigarh nightclub...

News Arena Network - Chandigarh - UPDATED: November 27, 2024, 04:30 PM - 2 min read

Pieces of broken window glass lie on the floor after an explosion outside a club in Chandigarh, Tuesday.

Two low-intensity explosions occurred outside a nightclub in Sector 26, Chandigarh, early on November 26, causing minor damage to property. The blasts, which happened between 2:30 am and 2:45 am, were reportedly carried out by two people on a motorcycle.

Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, including Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara, took responsibility for the blasts in a Facebook post.

The gang members claimed that the explosions targeted the De'orra Restaurant and Sevillee Bar & Lounge, both owned by rapper Badshah. According to their posts, the gang had previously demanded extortion money from the owners, but their demands were ignored.

An FIR has been filed, and the police are investigating the incident. A worker at one of the clubs, Puran, said that although the club was closed, seven to eight staff members were inside at the time.

They heard a loud sound around 3:15 am and rushed outside to find broken glass but no suspects.

The blasts occurred when two people on a motorcycle threw explosive devices outside the two businesses, located about 30 meters apart. The explosions shattered windows and caused minor structural damage to both establishments, with a nearby club also suffering some damage.

Chandigarh Police quickly responded to the scene and launched an investigation. The bomb detection squad and forensic experts were called to collect evidence. Early reports suggest the use of a homemade bomb, though the exact nature of the device is still under investigation.

The blasts have raised concerns about safety in the area, especially with Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to visit Chandigarh on December 3.

Goldy Brar, a prominent member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, had earlier claimed responsibility for the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in May 2022.

He was declared a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act earlier this year. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the blasts to identify the culprits and uncover their motives.
