Punjab Police arrested two members of the Lawrence Bishnoi-led Bishnoi gang after a dramatic chase and shootout in Jalandhar on Wednesday.
The police recovered three pistols and several cartridges from the suspects, who have multiple cases against them, including extortion, murder, and violations of the Arms and NDPS Acts.
During the chase, the suspects fired at the police, forcing the officers to retaliate with gunfire. Both criminals were eventually apprehended, Punjab Police stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
The Bishnoi gang, led by jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has been involved in several high-profile crimes across India. The gang, with an estimated 700 shooters nationwide, is under investigation for its role in prominent cases, including the murders of Punjabi rapper Sidhu Moosewala and political figure Baba Siddique.
The Punjab Police are continuing their investigation to uncover further details about the gang’s activities and its widespread network.
