BJP Yuva Morcha protests in Chandigarh over Herald case

The protest saw the full leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha and the Bharatiya Janata Party actively participating, with the leaders leading the workers in their demonstration.

Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) workers stage a protest against Congress leader and MPs Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, in Chandigarh over the National Herald case.

A large-scale protest was organised on Friday by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha in Chandigarh, aimed at the Congress party. The protest began at the BJP office in Sector 33 and was intended to march toward the Congress Bhawan. However, midway through the rally, the police attempted to halt the activists using water cannons.

Despite this, hundreds of BJP supporters continued to raise slogans such as "Congress Party Murdabad," while also burning an effigy of Rahul Gandhi to express their strong dissatisfaction with what they termed as corruption within the Congress party.

The protest saw the full leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha and the Bharatiya Janata Party actively participating, with the leaders leading the workers in their demonstration. This protest had been announced in advance by the BJP Chandigarh, and in a press conference on April 18, the state president, Jitendra Pal Malhotra, had launched a strong critique against the Congress, particularly focusing on the National Herald scam.

Malhotra accused the Gandhi family of misusing the legacy of the freedom struggle for personal gain. He claimed that a company called 'Young Indian,' in which Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi each hold 38 per cent stakes, had received a loan of Rs 90 crore for only Rs 50 lakh.

Through this alleged scam, he asserted that properties of the National Herald, located across several cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow, Bhopal, and Patna, had been unlawfully acquired.

Malhotra emphasised that it was time to bring the Gandhi family to trial, criticising their claim that Young Indian was a charitable organization, despite no visible charitable activities linked to it. He pointed out that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had conducted a thorough investigation into the matter and that both Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were currently out on bail.

He declared that the time had come for the Gandhi family to be held accountable in a court of law, vowing that every BJP worker was dedicated to enlightening the public about the truth.

Ramesh Sahore, the in-charge of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, also addressed the rally, stressing that the youth of the country would not remain silent in the face of corruption. He condemned the Congress party's attempts to threaten institutions like the ED, calling it an insult to the judicial process, which could not be tolerated.

Sahore remarked that the protest was a clear expression of public anger against the alleged corruption in Congress. He further emphasized that the BJP would continue to fight for national and public interests and expose corruption wherever it was found.

The ED had recently filed a charge sheet against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in connection with the National Herald case, leading to nationwide protests by Congress leaders against the central government and the ED's actions.

In response, the Chandigarh BJP Yuva Morcha staged their own protest today, targeting the Congress office over the alleged financial irregularities involving the Congress leaders.
