A fire erupted after an explosion at a chemical plant in Greater Noida's Badalpur area early on Sunday morning, officials said. Around two dozen fire tenders were used to fight the blaze, which took more than seven hours to control.
The fire started at the Shri Banke Bihari Chemical Plant on Dujana Road. Fortunately, no one was injured, but the factory suffered significant damage. The exact cause of the fire is still unknown.
Pradeep Kumar, the Chief Fire Officer (CFO), stated that the fire broke out around 3 am. Factory workers tried to put out the flames using available equipment, but were unsuccessful. They evacuated the premises and called the fire department for help.
Thick black smoke from the factory could be seen from far away.
Locals mentioned that the fire started after an explosion at the chemical plant.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Shakti Mohan Awasthi, confirmed the fire and said that fire services were immediately dispatched to the scene. Over two dozen fire tenders were deployed to tackle the blaze.
CFO Pradeep Kumar added that the control room received the report of the fire around 3:35 am, and 17 fire tenders were initially sent. Additional fire tenders were brought in from nearby districts, and the fire was eventually controlled after more than seven hours.
