Three personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) lost their lives, while 13 others sustained injuries when their vehicle veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge near Changoubung village in Manipur’s Senapati district on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:15 p.m. when a DI Tata vehicle, carrying 16 BSF personnel from the 37 Battalion stationed at IIIT Camp in Mayangkhang village, met with the accident while returning from duty at Keithelmanbi.
According to officials, two jawans died instantly at the scene, while the third succumbed to his injuries at the district hospital in Senapati.
The injured personnel were rushed to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Hospital in Imphal for medical attention.

The bodies of the deceased have been placed in the hospital’s mortuary, awaiting post-mortem examinations.
Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla expressed profound sorrow over the incident, extending his condolences to the bereaved families. In a statement shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the Governor conveyed his wishes for the swift recovery of the injured personnel.
Further details on the cause of the accident are yet to be ascertained.
Authorities are investigating whether mechanical failure or adverse road conditions contributed to the tragic mishap.
