Proceeding further with its investigations in the bribery and disproportionate assets case against suspended Punjab DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a raid at the residence of prominent Patiala-based real estate developer Bhupinder Singh, the owner of BH Properties.
Sources said the CBI team arrived at Bhupinder Singh’s Patiala residence early on Tuesday morning and carried out an extensive search operation. During the raid, the CBI sealed off the premises, restricting any entry or exit.
While an official statement regarding the operation is awaited, it is learnt that the name of BH Properties surfaced during CBI interrogation and previous searches conducted in the Bhullar case. The real estate firm runs major projects in Patiala and Mohali. It is believed that Bhupinder Singh has close ties with several senior politicians and bureaucrats in Patiala and Chandigarh.
Former DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar was arrested by the CBI on October 16 for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹8 lakh. Subsequent raids at his residences and other properties led to the recovery of ₹7.5 crore in cash, 2.5 kg of gold jewellery, 26 luxury watches, several high-end cars and documents relating to over 70 immovable properties.
