Addressing a dialogue programme with BLOs in Deoghar district of Jharkhand the CEC Gyanesh Kumar asserted that no eligible Indian citizen should be left out of the electoral roll.

Chief Election Commissioner of India, Gyanesh Kumar, on Monday emphasised that just as a clean electoral roll is the foundation of democracy, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) form the backbone of a credible voter list.

Addressing a dialogue programme with BLOs in Deoghar district of Jharkhand the CEC asserted that no eligible Indian citizen should be left out of the electoral roll.

The Chief Election Commissioner said that the intensive revision of electoral rolls is underway in phases across the country. Although the formal announcement for Jharkhand is yet to be made, the preparedness and clarity demonstrated by the state’s BLOs indicate that the objective of ensuring full voter inclusion will be effectively achieved.

During the interaction, Kumar lauded the dedication of BLOs and highlighted the significance of the official identity cards issued by the Election Commission of India, which have strengthened their credibility during door-to-door verification.

BLOs from various polling stations in Deoghar shared detailed presentations on different aspects of intensive revision, including voter list mapping, age-based categorisation, form procedures, house numbering, and special provisions for mapping women voters with their parental families.

Impressed by the clarity and preparedness of the BLOs, the Chief Election Commissioner announced that Deoghar BLOs would soon be invited for specialised training at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM), New Delhi.

In a press interaction later, Kumar said that during his two-day visit to Deoghar and Dumka, he also had the opportunity to offer prayers at Baba Baidyanath and Baba Basukinath.

He expressed confidence that whenever the intensive revision programme is announced in Jharkhand, it will be conducted in a smooth and transparent manner.

The programme was attended by Chief Electoral Officer, Jharkhand, K. Ravi Kumar; Deputy Commissioner Deoghar, Naman Priyesh Lakra; and other senior district officials.
