The opposition Congress party in Chhattisgarh accused the BJP government, led by Vishnu Deo Sai, of failing to meet the expectations of the people over the past year. The ruling party rejected these accusations.

At a press conference, state Congress chief Deepak Baij presented a “chargesheet,” claiming that people from all sections of society were unhappy with the BJP government. Baij alleged that the state was suffering from corruption and poor governance.

He said that people from the Other Backward Classes (OBC) were upset with the government’s "flawed" reservation policy in local bodies. He also claimed that farmers were disappointed because they were not receiving the promised Rs 3,100 plus the Rs 112 increase in the minimum support price (MSP) for paddy, totaling Rs 3,212 per quintal.

Baij also pointed to incidents of violence in the Kabirdham and Balodabazar-Bhatapara districts last year, and mentioned irregularities in some recruitment exams, accusing the BJP government of mishandling these issues.

He criticized the government for its failure in maintaining law and order and said that social security pensions, old-age pensions, and widow pensions had been stopped, forcing beneficiaries to face difficulties.

In response, Chhattisgarh Finance Minister OP Choudhary dismissed the Congress’ claims. He said that if Congress were to make a chargesheet about its own five-year term from 2018 to 2023, it would be much larger. He added that while Congress was busy making accusations, the BJP government’s development efforts were visible across the state and people would support them in future.
