Jammu and Kashmir police’s Counter-Intelligence Wing conducted searches across multiple locations in the valley in a terror-related case, officials said on Saturday.
Searches were being conducted by the Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) at approximately eight different locations across the valley as part of a broader investigation seeking to track and apprehend suspects wanted in the case.
The raids were being conducted in the districts of Srinagar, Baramulla, Anantnag, Kupwara, Pulwama, and Shopian.
“The searches are in pursuance of a search warrant obtained from the competent court in case FIR number 3/2023 of P/S CIK,” the officials added.
Earlier, the State Investigation Agency (SIA) J&K on September 9 arrested one of the key conspirators in the Awantipora area of Pulwama district in the 2022 Narco-terror case, the agency said today.
They said the accused, Abdul Rashid Bhat of Awantipora, was evading arrest for more than 2 years.
The statement from the SIA read that the arrested individual was proclaimed an offender by the court in case FIR 19/2022 of SIA Kashmir.
“He was the third absconder to be arrested in the case after years of pursuit. His arrest marks a severe blow to the LeT-operated Narco-terror module backed by Pakistan-based handlers,” it reads.
Jammu and Kashmir police’s CIK and SIA are two of the main agencies investigating crimes related to terror funding and are involved in operations to dismantle the financial network of terror modules in the UT.
Over the years, these organisations have successfully solved several cases related to terror financing and Narco terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
