On the completion of the first year of the BJP government’s third consecutive term in Haryana, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday announced an increase in the old age pension from Rs 3,000 to Rs 3,200 per month.
Saini said that in the past year, his government fulfilled 46 out of 217 election promises made ahead of the 2024 assembly poll. He added that his government would fulfil 90 more resolutions in the current financial year.
Among the promises fulfilled is the Lado Lakshmi Yojna, which gives Rs 2,100 per month to eligible women, he said. Work on the remaining election promises is steadily progressing.
Addressing a 'Jan Vishwas–Jan Vikas' state-level event in Panchkula, Saini said the pension hike would take effect from November 1.
He said the state government was focused on “equitable development” and was working with renewed speed and energy to fulfil the Prime Minister’s vision of a developed India.
The government's "policy intent is right", and the leadership is working at an accelerated speed, he said.
Saini said in the past one year, the government inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for public welfare projects worth Rs 25,515 crore.
“We do not do the politics of misleading... We fulfil what we promise,” he said, crediting the strength of the “triple engine” government in Haryana. The BJP continues to be in power in the state and at the Centre, and secured a sweeping victory in Haryana's civic polls earlier this year.
During the event, the Chief Minister also distributed development grants to panchayats and urban local bodies. He handed over plot allotment letters to beneficiaries under the Mukhya Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana 2.0 (Phase-II).
He said under the CM Gram Awas Yojna, 8,029 plots were distributed in 141 villages.
In the first phase, 4,002 plots were handed out, and over the past year, 77,199 families benefited from various housing schemes, he added.
Saini, an OBC leader of the party, was sworn in as Haryana’s chief minister for the second time on October 17, 2024. He replaced Manohar Lal Khattar, who is now a Union minister, in March 2024.
