Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday asked all administrative secretaries to set clear targets and finish pending work. He said this would ensure that the benefits of development projects reach the people.

During a high-level meeting with the secretaries, Sukhu said the state government had been working from day one to ensure good governance and improve the lives of the people of Himachal Pradesh, a statement said.

He told all secretaries to work with dedication to implement plans and schemes on the ground to make Himachal Pradesh a self-reliant state.

The chief secretary would regularly check the progress of departmental projects, Sukhu added.

Sukhu also asked for faster expansion of Kangra airport, along with completing other tourism-related projects. He said his government was focusing on health, education, rural economy, tourism, energy, food processing, and data storage. Investment in these areas will also be encouraged.

He instructed the revenue department to prepare a detailed report on losses caused by this year’s disasters. The report should be sent to the Central government without delay.

From now on, all secretaries and department heads must arrive on time at the office. They must inform the chief minister, minister, and chief secretary before leaving the office, acting Chief Secretary Sanjay Gupta said.

Sukhu also said no file should stay with secretaries or department heads for more than two days. Officials’ performance will be reviewed every fortnight and month to track who is working and who is not.
