The Special Investigation Team (SIT) looking into the alleged suicide of Confident Group chairman C J Roy is scanning several papers and documents recovered during the investigation, including a nine-page note believed to have been written by him in red ink, police sources said on Monday.

“We are currently checking multiple documents collected from Roy’s family members and close associates. These include nine pages of handwritten notes suspected to be in his handwriting,” a senior police officer said.

The officer said the notes refer to various issues and incidents, which are now being carefully examined. At present, the case has been registered as an unnatural death report, and the angle of abetment to suicide has not yet been added, the officer said. "As the investigation progresses, further action will be taken based on the outcome," he said.

Police are also recording statements of people linked to founder and chairman of Confident Group as part of the investigation, though details remain confidential as of now. The real estate baron allegedly committed suicide on January 30 after suffering bullet injuries from his licensed firearm at his office near Richmond Circle in Bengaluru.

The incident took place on the same day when a team of Income Tax officials from Kerala was questioning him, after searches were carried out over the previous three days.

According to sources, Roy had been under the Income Tax department’s scanner since December last year, when his office and other premises were searched.
Details of the raids have not yet been made public, and it remains unclear whether the officials involved have been questioned by the SIT.
Sources also revealed that Roy had been consulting a psychiatrist, suggesting that he was under stress. The SIT has also questioned several staff members from Roy’s office as part of the ongoing probe.
