The Congress government in Himachal Pradesh will be voted out within the next 18 months, and the BJP will form the next government with public support, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh said on Tuesday.

Speaking during the State Executive Committee meeting here, Chugh criticised the Congress party and said the countdown for the Congress government in the state has begun. He claimed that Rahul Gandhi’s much-talked-about “Taka-Tak model” has totally failed.

During an election rally in 2024, Rahul Gandhi had promised that youth doing apprenticeships would receive an annual financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh if the Congress came to power. He had used the phrase “Taka-Tak” to convey the message.

Chugh stated that in the past three and a half years, the Congress government has derailed development in the state and pushed Himachal Pradesh back by decades. He said the government is heavily dependent on loans to run its administration, development work has slowed down, and even payment of salaries and pensions has become difficult.

He urged BJP workers to strengthen the party at the booth level and take the alleged failures of the government to every household. “This is the time to prepare and work together to remove this anti-people government,” he said.

Chugh added that every BJP worker should become the voice of the people and expose what he described as the Congress government's misleading propaganda, financial mismanagement, and anti-people policies.
