A civil court in Bihar on Saturday deferred the hearing of educator Faisal Khan’s anticipatory bail plea in connection with the coaching centre firing case until June 30, while extending the interim protection from arrest granted to him. The case pertains to a firing incident that took place on June 2 outside Khan Sir’s coaching institute, ‘Khan Global Studies,’ in Patna.
The violence reportedly followed an episode of vandalism by miscreants at the premises. Police subsequently arrested the institute’s security guards for allegedly opening fire and registered an FIR in the matter, naming Khan Sir among others.
During the latest hearing, the investigating officer submitted an updated case diary before the court. The matter has now been listed for arguments on Tuesday.
“The updated case diary has been submitted. The matter is listed for arguments on Tuesday, and the ‘no coercive action’ order against Khan Sir will remain in force till then. The final hearing is expected to take place on that day,” said his counsel, Arvind Kumar Mouar.
Mouar further informed that the case involving Khan Sir’s security guards, which is linked to the same incident, will also be heard on the same day. He added that Khan Sir has been cooperating with the investigation.
According to police, the June 2 incident involved a violent clash marked by physical assault and stone-pelting outside the coaching centre at Musallahpur Hat. The confrontation allegedly took place between staff members of Khan Global Studies and those of ‘Gyan Bindu GS Academy,’ run by one Anand.
Both sides accused each other of opening fire during the altercation, leading to Anand’s arrest. Two of Khan Sir’s security personnel were also taken into custody in connection with the incident. While Khan Sir and Anand have since been granted bail, the security guards remain in judicial custody till June 25.
