Panic spread in Shimla after a poster carrying a bomb threat targeting the local court and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office in Rohru was found, according to the police on Wednesday.
Police said they were informed about an unidentified handwritten poster pasted on a wall in the Bharari area. The message warned that the Rohru court and SDM office would be blown up on Wednesday, prompting authorities to go on alert and take precautionary steps.
Following the threat, both the court complex and the SDM office were evacuated, and security agencies launched a search operation in the area. A Bomb Disposal Squad was sent from Shimla to assist in checking the premises.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shimla Gaurav Singh confirmed the incident and said a detailed search was underway. He said no suspicious objects had been found so far and the situation remained under control. A case has been filed at Sadar police station, and further probe is continuing.
The SSP also appealed to residents not to panic, maintain calm, and avoid spreading or believing rumours related to the incident. This is the second bomb threat reported in Shimla this week. Earlier on Monday, schools received an email warning of explosions, which later turned out to be a hoax after security checks found nothing suspicious.
