The Kulgam Police launched a massive crackdown on Saturday on J&K nationals operating from Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (JKNOP), conducting multiple raids and cordon and search operations (CASOs) across the district, and booking several relatives and associates involved in funding and facilitating cross-border terror activities.
In a statement, the police said it was a major operation aimed at dismantling the terror ecosystem and subversive networks in the district.
“Kulgam Police today launched a massive crackdown on J&K nationals operating from Pakistan/Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (JKNOP),” the statement read.
Acting on credible intelligence inputs, multiple cordon and search operations were carried out in different parts of the district, targeting people involved in facilitating, funding, and promoting terror activities at the behest of their relatives currently based across the border, the statement said.
During the operation, several relatives and associates of active JKNOP associates were booked under relevant Sections of law for their continued involvement in anti-national activities, including providing logistical support, spreading fake, manipulated information, and aiding recruitment.
Digital devices and incriminating materials were also seized during the raids, the statement further reads.
Kulgam, where two old terror hideouts were busted by security forces last week, has been a flashpoint for recent terror-related activities in the region. Its forest areas are particularly infested with terrorists, who have frequently engaged security forces in encounters on multiple occasions.
Kulgam Police reiterated their commitment to upholding peace and security in the district, stating that operations against the terror support network will continue until its complete dismantling, the statement said.
