A 35-year-old CRPF constable stationed at the CRPF Bangrasia Camp allegedly shot and killed his 32-year-old wife at their rented home in Capital Green Colony, Misrod, past midnight on Thursday.
Shortly after the incident, he called the CRPF Control Room, Dial-100, and his landlord around 1:30 am, confessing to the crime before taking his own life with the same rifle.
Upon receiving the distress call, Misrod police arrived at the scene and sent both bodies for a post-mortem examination. Initial investigations suggest the tragedy resulted from a marital dispute, though no suicide note was found.
According to SHO Misrod Manish Raj Bhadouria, the deceased, Ravikant Verma (35), was a native of Bhind and served as a constable at CRPF Bangrasia Camp. He lived with his wife, Renu Verma (32), and their two children, aged 6 and 2, in Capital Green Colony near the camp.
On Wednesday night, Ravikant was on Quarter Guard duty and returned home around 10 PM with a rifle. Around 1:30 am, he shot his wife while their children were asleep. After the crime, he made multiple calls to report the incident before turning the rifle on himself.
Misrod police continue to investigate the exact reasons behind the tragedy.
