The Delhi Police have registered 1,100 cases of alleged Model Code of Conduct (MCC) violations and arrested or detained over 35,000 people related to these cases, an official announced on Friday.
The violations took place between January 7 (when the MCC came into effect) and February 6. According to the police statement, a total of 35,516 people have been arrested or detained under various laws and preventive measures.
The police have seized 477 illegal firearms and 538 cartridges, arresting 499 people under the Arms Act.
Additionally, they have confiscated 1,15,103 liters of alcohol, arresting 1,426 people in connection with these seizures. 206.712 kg of drugs, valued at over ₹77.9 crore, have also been seized, along with more than 1,200 banned injections, leading to the arrest of 179 individuals.
Law enforcement has also recovered Rs 11.70 crore in cash and 37.39 kg of silver. The Delhi Assembly elections for all 70 seats were held on Wednesday, and the votes will be counted on Saturday.
