Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday reinstated her ‘Jan Sunwai,’ or public hearing program, at her Civil Lines camp office. The event, which had been suspended for nearly two weeks following an attack on the Chief Minister, was held under significantly heightened security.

A large crowd of residents gathered to voice their concerns and seek her direct assistance. The public hearing began at 8 a.m., with a heavy security presence around the camp office, which is located next to the Chief Minister’s official residence.

Security measures included the installation of metal detectors and CCTV cameras to monitor the proceedings. Access to the Chief Minister was strictly controlled, with security personnel forming a protective ring around her. A table was also placed between her and the visitors, who queued up to submit their complaints.

Following the session, Chief Minister Gupta shared photos on the social media platform X, stating: “Today, during the public hearing, I met citizens from various parts of the capital and listened to their suggestions and problems. Dialogue with the public always gives me new energy and deepens my dedication to service. Public hearing is a new culture of service. The resolve of the Delhi government is to give topmost priority to public service and provide swift solutions to every citizen.”

The 'Jan Sunwai' programme had been halted since the attack on August 20. During that incident, a man named Rajeshbhai Khimjibhai Sakariya, 41, from Rajkot, Gujarat, had posed as a complainant and assaulted Chief Minister Gupta. The Delhi Police subsequently arrested Sakariya along with another individual in connection with the attack.
