Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday reviewed preparations in Haridwar for the proposed visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah on March 7. A major programme will be organised during the visit to mark the completion of four years of the state government.

Speaking about the programme, Dhami said huge participation is expected from across the state, especially from areas around Haridwar. "There's a big event here, and people from the surrounding areas of Haridwar and across Uttarakhand will participate. Our prominent workers, office-bearers, and others working in various sectors of society will all participate," Dhami said.

He also carried out an on-site inspection to review the arrangements and ensure that preparations were in place ahead of the Union Home Minister’s visit. Shah is scheduled to take part in programmes organised to mark four years of the Dhami-led government. Dhami said the programme will highlight the achievements of the 'double-engine government' and showcase key development works carried out in Uttarakhand in recent years.

"There will be an event showcasing the work done by the double-engine government in recent years and the achievements of the state of Uttarakhand. There's a lot of enthusiasm among the people and extensive preparations are underway," Dhami said.

Speaking about the upcoming Char Dham Yatra, he said the state government started preparations well in advance and the arrangements were now in the final stage. “We began preparations for the Char Dham Yatra long ago, and preparations are in the final stages,” Dhami said, expressing confidence that the yatra will be carried out smoothly.

The Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand will begin on April 19 with the opening of the gates of Yamunotri Temple and Gangotri Temple. The portals of Kedarnath Temple and Badrinath Temple will reopen for devotees on April 22 and April 23, respectively. With lakhs of devotees expected to take on the sacred pilgrimage this year, the state government is focusing on ensuring a safe, well-organised and hassle-free yatra for pilgrims.
