A soldier from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) was injured when a bomb planted by Naxalites exploded in Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district on Friday, police said. The injured soldier was being taken by air for treatment.
The explosion happened around 1:45 pm between Toymeta and Kawanar villages. A team of DRG and district police was patrolling the area for road security when the incident occurred, a police officer said. While checking the area, a DRG soldier accidentally stepped on a hidden pressure bomb, causing it to explode and injure him.
Naxalites often place bombs on roads and pathways in the forest to target security forces during patrols in remote areas of the Bastar region, which includes seven districts, including Narayanpur. In the past, civilians have also been victims of such attacks.

This month, several similar attacks have occurred:
- On February 15, a CoBRA commando from the CRPF was injured in Bijapur district.
- On February 11, a CRPF soldier was injured in Sukma district.
- On February 4, two security personnel were hurt in an IED blast in Bijapur district.
Earlier incidents include:
- January 17: Two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were injured in Narayanpur.
- January 16: Two CoBRA commandos were hurt in Bijapur.
- January 12: A 10-year-old girl was injured in Sukma, and two policemen were wounded in Bijapur.
- January 10: A villager was killed, and three others were injured in two separate bomb incidents in Narayanpur.
These incidents highlight the ongoing threat of Naxalite violence in the region.
