Jammu & Kashmir Police have cracked a strong whip on drug peddlers, syndicates, terror associates, and narco-terrorism in the first 15 days of the 100-day Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyan launched by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The police, along with other security agencies, have achieved massive success through sustained raids across North, South, and Central Kashmir.
Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat chaired several meetings and visited districts to ensure maximum results. From April 11 to April 26, 2026, more than 378 cases were registered under the NDPS Act and related laws, with 431 drug peddlers booked.
“Police seized 478 kg of narcotic drugs, 13,427 tablets, capsules and bottles of psychotropic substances, with a total estimated value of about Rs. seven crore,” sources said.
The authorities also disposed of 4,776 kg of narcotic drugs and 6,493 tablets, capsules, and bottles of psychotropic substances. Efforts to curb illicit cultivation are in full swing with the large-scale destruction of poppy crops.
Financial investigations led to the attachment of 16 movable properties worth Rs 7,832,736 and 17 immovable properties valued at Rs 91,383,039.
Surveillance remains active on 52 kingpins and 2,898 drug peddlers across the UT.
The police also conducted 994 awareness programmes reaching thousands of participants. Around 1,500 Investigating Officers and 15 Prosecutors were trained to strengthen enforcement and prosecution.
So far, authorities have demolished 15 illegal structures, attached properties, and carried out inspections of 2,274 establishments, leading to the cancellation of 88 driving licences, seizure of 19 vehicles with registrations cancelled, and legal actions revoking 21 bail orders and 1 acquittal order of drug peddlers in the region.
