‘Enough is enough’: Modi claims pro-NDA wave in Kerala

Addressing a public meeting ahead of the Kerala Legislative Assembly election, Modi alleged that both fronts had collectively “looted Kerala” over the years. “For decades, the LDF and the UDF have together looted Kerala… in this arrangement, our Kerala has remained trapped,” he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched a scathing attack on both the United Democratic Front (UDF) and the Left Democratic Front (LDF), accusing them of “decades of corruption and political opportunism” during an election rally in Palakkad.

Taking aim at their political dynamics, the Prime Minister remarked that while the Congress and Left parties appear to oppose each other in Kerala, they share alliances elsewhere. “They abuse each other falsely… You must remain cautious of both of them,” he said.

Highlighting what he described as shifting public sentiment, Modi claimed that the state is witnessing a growing inclination towards the BJP, particularly among youth, women, and farmers. He asserted that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would form the next government in the state.

“Enough is enough. In Kerala, team BJP and team NDA are to form the government. With the blessings of the people, we will leave no stone unturned in serving Kerala,” he said.

Modi also alleged misuse of central funds by the ruling dispensation, stating that public money meant for citizens had been “looted.” He added that both the UDF and LDF were apprehensive about the BJP’s rise as it would expose their “wrongdoings.”

Projecting a development-focused agenda, the Prime Minister promised that an NDA government would work to recover misused funds and accelerate the state’s growth trajectory.

Earlier in the day, Modi, in a post on X, said the “mood of Keralam” was in favour of the NDA. He also announced his schedule, which included the Palakkad rally and a roadshow in Thrissur.

Polling for all 140 Assembly constituencies in Kerala is scheduled to be held in a single phase on April 9, with counting of votes set for May 4. The state has approximately 2.71 crore registered voters, including over 1.38 crore women and 1.31 crore men.
