An FIR has been registered on the complaint of Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL) chairman Sanjay Gupta against five people for causing a loss of Rs 11.84 crore to the board in 2012.
The FIR names three retired HPSEBL officials and two then directors of Gilvert Ispat Private Limited.
According to the complaint, the Barotiwala-based company was given special and undue advantage, which led to a loss of Rs 11.84 crore to the electricity board.
Gupta alleged that the then chairman-cum-managing director of HPSEBL approved power reconnection to the firm without recovering its pending dues. This, he said, was a violation of the Himachal Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission’s supply code.
