Six revenue officials in Haryana have been suspended after a crackdown on fake crop damage claims, where the same photos were repeatedly uploaded as proof on a government portal for relief.

They were suspended after Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini took serious note of the misuse of government funds and the fraud on the E-Kshatipurti portal, where identical photos of crop loss were uploaded repeatedly as proof.

The Chief Minister has ordered strict action against all Patwaris who were involved in such cases, an official statement said on Friday.

After the chief minister’s directions, the Patwaris involved were identified and action was started. Patwaris from Jui Khurd (Bhiwani), Boripur (Kurukshetra), Kalawan (Jind), Jandwala (Fatehabad), Pataudi (Gurugram) and Nimli (Dadri) have been suspended immediately.

A detailed investigation is also underway to find more officials involved and take action against them. Saini gave these orders while reviewing the progress of the Revenue Department’s budget announcements.

He said the government’s main aim is to make sure help reaches every eligible person without any bias. He stressed that farmers who have suffered real losses must get compensation on time.

To assess crop losses caused by heavy monsoon rains this year, Saini had earlier ordered a transparent evaluation of crop damages and quick submission of reports.

He raised concern about delays in the process and cases of fraud, where some Patwaris even reported crop loss in areas that were not affected.

The repeated use of the same crop damage photos was also found to be an attempt to misuse government funds. Strict action has been ordered against all such Patwaris, the statement said.

In the review meeting, Saini asked Additional Chief Secretary Sumita Misra to immediately collect reports from all deputy commissioners and ensure that affected farmers get relief within the next week.
