The meeting between Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and farmer leaders from the SKM ended without any resolution on Monday. Instead of finding solutions, tensions grew as the farmers accused CM Mann of leaving the meeting halfway and trying to intimidate them.
After the talks failed, SKM leaders Joginder Singh Ugrahan and Balbir Singh Rajewal expressed their disappointment. They claimed this was the first time in Punjab’s history that a Chief Minister had directly tried to threaten farmers during discussions. Rajewal stated that previous governments, including Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal, had never taken such an approach.
The leaders alleged that CM Mann suddenly left the meeting, citing an eye infection, despite earlier assuring them that he had enough time for discussions.
They mentioned that he only agreed to one demand—starting paddy procurement from June 1—but avoided commitments on other major issues. When the farmers insisted on their demands, CM Mann reportedly became frustrated and told them, “Do whatever you want on June 5.”

Punjab Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian was also present at the meeting but has not commented on the discussion. The farmers accused the Punjab government of using delaying tactics instead of addressing their concerns.
They claimed that instead of finding solutions, the government was trying to suppress their movement. With no agreement reached, SKM leaders have vowed to continue their protest, setting the stage for further agitation in Punjab.
