Ludhiana’s Halwara airport saw its first commercial flight landing on Friday after authorities announced the commencement of operations. A wave of joy and celebration swept through the area after the first Air India flight from New Delhi touched down at 7:05 am, marking a historic moment for the Halwara region in Punjab.
The flight passengers were welcomed and greeted with colourful gifts and vibrant cultural performances with loud Punjabi music resonating across the terminal complex.
Traditional Giddha performers welcomed the passengers with an upbeat and spirited display of local heritage, while students performed Bhangra inside the premises to mark the beginning of a new dawn for the people of Halwara.
The festivities continued throughout the morning as visitors, airport staff and local residents cheered and witnessed what is now being described as a historic moment for regional connectivity.
According to sources, some local leaders also joined the students in dancing to the beats of Punjabi music and encouraged them for their participation, adding more fun to the celebrations.
With the commencement of operations, the region is expected to become a gateway for regional air connectivity, besides opening future possibilities in growth and employment for the local population.
