Five members of a family, including three children, were found dead inside their house in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district on Tuesday morning, police said. The deceased were identified as Manish (35), his wife (30), their son Pankaj (2), and their daughters Priyanshi (4) and Honey (5).
The incident took place in Khapparpur village, which comes under the Mahavan police station area. After receiving information, a police team reached the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem examination.
According to police, a neighbour found the couple and their children lying unconscious inside the house and alerted authorities.
Preliminary investigation suggests that Manish had purchased milk late on Monday evening, and officials suspect it may have been contaminated. However, the exact cause of death is yet to be determined.
The incident has created panic in the village, with residents reluctant to speak about the family. Police added that it is too early to determine the exact nature of the case, and further investigation is in progress.
SP Rural Suresh Chandra Rawat said a police team reached the village after being informed by locals.
“Five members of a family have died under suspicious circumstances. Investigations are underway. Nothing more can be said at this stage,” he said.
