Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu launched a critical attack on former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, alleging that he had encouraged political culture based on violence, dishonesty and intimidation. Addressing a pension disbursal programme in Kovur, East Godavari district, stated that Jagan's style of leadership represented an "absolute disregard for human life".

The Chief Minister made the statement following an incident in Palnadu, in which 53-year-old C Singayya was reportedly run over by a car in Jagan's convoy. Naidu decried the YSRCP leadership's reaction, stating they abandoned the injured man to die without providing assistance.

Naidu, further, added: "Now they're openly asserting that he did not fall under their car, but some other vehicle. They are creating fake evidence. But sometimes it is as if God himself takes action. The forensic reports and videos clearly reveal the truth," Naidu said, stating that the evidence established the fact that it was Jagan's vehicle that killed the man.

He also asserted that the state police had instructed YSRCP leaders not to organise a political rally on narrow streets out of fear for security. "They went ahead despite it, exerting muscle and acting like rowdies. The police were outnumbered and asked them to conduct the meeting in a suitable venue, but they refused to listen to all advice. This is not politics. This is hooliganism," said the Chief Minister.

Naidu pitted his own political career against that of his opponent, pointing to his adherence to non-violence and legality. "Today, to safeguard the people of Andhra Pradesh, I'm compelled politically to tackle criminals. If I don't, your security is at risk," he informed the crowd.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday stayed all further proceedings in the case registered against former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and others, concerning the death of one Ch Singaiah. The court directed the police to file counter affidavits in the quash petitions and posted the matter for further hearing after two weeks.
