Four individuals, including a woman and her teenage son, lost their lives after their car fell into a deep gorge in Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur district, police said on Saturday. One other person was seriously injured in the accident.
A rescue team and local residents reached the spot near Jani village soon after the incident. They recovered the bodies from the gorge and rescued the injured person, officials said.
Police said they received information about the accident at around 9.20 am and immediately sent teams to the site. Kinnaur Superintendent of Police Sushil Kumar said that four of the five occupants died on the spot. The fifth person is in critical condition.
The deceased were identified as Krishna (42), her son Himesh Kumar (19), Sushma (47) and Inder Lal (30). Vidya Krishan (32), who was injured, was shifted to JSW Hospital in Tapri for treatment. All the victims were residents of Jani village in Kinnaur district.
Police have ordered post-mortem examinations of the bodies and registered a case in connection with the accident.
