Four members of a family, including two children, were found dead in an apparent case of suicide in Andhra Pradesh’s Chittoor district, with preliminary investigations pointing to financial distress and prolonged illness as possible factors, police said. The deceased have been identified as Damodaram (30), his wife Nirmala, their 12-year-old son, and their 10-year-old daughter. The incident occurred in Bangareddypalle village in Chittoor Rural Mandal.
According to police officials, the tragedy came to light on Monday when Damodaram’s sister visited the house and found him unresponsive. Local residents then broke open the door and entered the house, where they discovered the bodies of the other family members.
Police said Nirmala and the two children were found inside the house. Preliminary inquiries indicate that Nirmala had been suffering from complications related to a brain stroke for several years and was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Ranipet.
Officials added that the family was also facing financial difficulties.
A handwritten note was reportedly recovered from the house, in which Damodaram mentioned his ATM PIN and bank details, requesting that the money in his accounts be used for funeral expenses.
Police have registered a case under relevant sections and launched an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the deaths.
Authorities have urged the public to seek support during times of distress, emphasising the importance of reaching out for help.
