Gangster Joginder Geong, a wanted criminal in multiple cases across India, was arrested at Delhi airport after being deported from the Philippines. The arrest was carried out in a joint operation by the Delhi Police Special Cell and Haryana Police.

Geong, who had been residing in the Philippines for several years, continued to engage in illegal activities during his time abroad. Indian authorities had been actively pursuing his capture, which led to his detention in Bacolod City in July of the previous year by the Bureau of Immigration (BI).

Geong, originally from Kaithal district in Haryana, had been involved in criminal activities along with his brother, Surinder Geong. Haryana Police filed a case against Joginder on December 30, 2017, at the Panipat police station, accusing him of criminal conspiracy and murder.

According to the police, Geong targeted a man whom he suspected of revealing the location of his brother to the authorities. The man was subsequently killed in an encounter with Karnal police in 2017.

The Bureau of Immigration in the Philippines identified Geong as an Indian-Nepalese national and as a prominent leader of a separatist terror group. Norman Tansingco, the Immigration Commissioner, confirmed that Geong had been arrested at his residence in Bacolod City by the BI’s fugitive search unit last year.

Authorities noted that Geong had been using multiple aliases, including Joginder Geyong and Kanta Gupta.

The Philippines authorities acted on India’s request and ordered his arrest. Geong had been suspected of leading an organized crime syndicate and had been sentenced to life imprisonment in India for firearms possession.

Additionally, he was believed to have links with the Khalistani separatist group, a factor that further intensified his notoriety.

Geong had several criminal cases filed against him in Haryana, Delhi, and Punjab. His deportation and subsequent arrest mark a significant step in addressing his criminal activities and his connections to organised crime and separatist movements.
