Girls have bagged the top three ranks in the Class 12 examinations conducted by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB). The results were declared on Wednesday.
Supneet Kaur from Gurukul Academy Public Senior Secondary School, Mansa, secured the first position by scoring a perfect 500 out of 500 marks. She is a student from the science stream.
Suhani Chauhan of BCM Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana, secured the second position, while Vanit Johar from Teja Singh Sutantar Memorial Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana, stood third. Both toppers belong to the humanities stream.
A total of 2,65,417 students appeared in the examination, out of which 2,42,755 students passed. The overall pass percentage stood at 91.46, according to the PSEB results.
Girls once again performed better than boys. The pass percentage among girls was 94.73 per cent, while boys recorded a pass percentage of 88.52 per cent. The results also showed a marginal difference between urban and rural schools. Urban schools recorded a pass percentage of 91.24 per cent, while rural schools registered 91.63 per cent.
Government schools recorded a pass percentage of 91.41 per cent. Non-government schools performed slightly better with 92.68 per cent, while aided schools recorded a pass percentage of 88.44 per cent.
As many as 5,109 students failed the examination, while 17,495 students were placed in the compartment category. Among different streams, commerce recorded the highest pass percentage at 98.78 per cent, followed by science at 98.47 per cent. Humanities and vocational streams registered pass percentages of 87.74 per cent and 87.80 per cent, respectively.
District-wise, Amritsar recorded the highest pass percentage of 96 per cent in the state. It was followed by Pathankot with 95.66 per cent, SBS Nagar with 95.62 per cent, and Gurdaspur with 95.36 per cent.
