Reports of gunfire outside the residence of Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh’s manager Gurpartap Kang in Gonder village of Karnal, Haryana, have raised serious concern. A social media post allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility, though it has not been independently verified.
According to the post, Bishnoi’s associates Tyson Bishnoi, Arzoo Bishnoi and Hari Boxer claimed responsibility for the alleged firing. In the post, the group claimed that the shooting was done as a “warning” and also made serious allegations against the Diljit’s manager such as harassment and misbehaviour towards women. However, these claims have not been confirmed by authorities.
Meanwhile, Haryana Police said that a team visited Kang’s village in Gonder. During the preliminary investigation, nothing was recovered from the spot, officials said. Police also stated that no complaint has been received so far from the manager or his family.
The social media post said “Today I took the breast made in Austria to Tyson Bishnoi and my brother Arju Bishnoi and Hari boxer Diljit Dosanjh's manager Gurpratap Kang's house (Gonder village, Haryana). We had given a message to this singer Diljit and his manager Sonali and Gurpratap. We have neither asked for any ransom from you, nor have we taken any financial benefit, nor have we ever harassed you for any work. We have given a message that this employee of yours (Gurpratap Kang) exploits girls, meets them on your shows and takes advantage of them.”
Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, however, alleged a political angle behind the incident. He claimed that the BJP had recently asked Diljit Dosanjh to join the party, but the offer was refused. After this, he alleged, the manager was attacked and responsibility was later claimed by the Bishnoi gang.
Cheema said this shows an attempt to intimidate celebrities and businessmen by using gangs. He also alleged that the BJP was using gangsters to create fear, calling it an anti-Punjab approach.
Earlier, in a post on X, Cheema said “The timeline is crystal clear for everyone to witness. BJP tells @diljitdosanjh to join them, which he publicly refuses. Days later, the Bishnoi gang attacks his manager's house to send a 'message.” He further accused the BJP of protecting gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and blocking efforts to interrogate him. He alleged that the government was treating Bishnoi like a “state asset instead of a criminal” and said this reflected misuse of power. Cheema added that such actions were aimed at intimidating those who refuse to align politically, but said Punjab would not be silenced.
"This is not law and order. This is the weaponisation of gangsters to intimidate Punjabis who refuse to bend before the BJP. A cowardly, vindictive and deeply Anti-Punjab mindset is on full display. Punjab will not be bullied into silence," Cheema added.
