A married woman from Hamirpur district in Himachal Pradesh has accused her father-in-law of molesting her and sending obscene messages and videos through social media.
Based on the woman's complaint, the police have registered a case and started an investigation. Hamirpur Superintendent of Police Balbir Singh Thakur said the matter is being looked into seriously.
In her complaint, the woman said she has been staying at her parents' home in a village in Hamirpur for the last 10 months because she did not feel comfortable living at her in-laws' place.
She alleged that on November 3, 2025, her father-in-law sent her an obscene video from his Facebook account. After receiving the video, she blocked him on the platform.
The woman further claimed that on January 7 this year, her father-in-law came to her parents' house saying he wanted to speak with her. She alleged that he took her aside, threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the messages and videos, and then molested her when she resisted.
According to the complaint, she did not approach the police earlier because she was frightened and worried about social stigma.
The SP said investigators will examine every allegation carefully. Digital evidence and any other available proof will be verified, and further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.
