A Class 12 girl died by suicide on Wednesday by jumping in front of a Vande Bharat Express train in Gannaur. Her father claimed that three young men from their village sexually abused and harassed her, which led her to take this step.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) sent her body to Bhagat Phool Singh Medical College for Women in Khanpur Kalan. A medical team will conduct the post-mortem later in the day.
Based on her father’s complaint, police have filed a case against the three accused for sexual abuse and pressuring her to die by suicide. One of the accused, Tushar, has been arrested. He will be presented in court later in the day.

GRP SHO Jogender Singh confirmed that the girl died by suicide between Gannaur and Bhodwal Majri railway stations. Her family identified her body. Her father named Tushar, Kamal, and Manjeet as the ones who harassed his daughter. He believes this led to her death.
Police have registered a case under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The investigation is ongoing.
Gannaur GRP in-charge Suresh Kumar said Tushar, the main accused, is now in custody. He also mentioned that the victim’s Aadhaar card lists her age as 18, so the POCSO Act might not apply in this case.
