Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has instructed officials from all four agencies responsible for procuring crops for the Rabi marketing season 2025-26 to ensure that necessary arrangements are completed on time.
This will facilitate smooth transactions for farmers selling their produce in mandis without any difficulties.
Chairing a review meeting, Saini assessed the state’s preparedness for the upcoming procurement season.
Officials informed him that procurement responsibilities have been divided among key agencies: 30% of Rabi crops will be procured by the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, 40% by Haryana State Co-operative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited, 20% by Haryana State Warehousing Corporation, and 10% by the Food Corporation of India.
With an anticipated bumper wheat production this season, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for robust procurement arrangements across all mandis.
The government has set a procurement target of 75 lakh metric tonnes of wheat this season. The procurement of mustard began on March 15 and will continue until May 1, while the procurement of lentils started on March 20 and will also continue until May 1.
The procurement of wheat, barley, and gram will begin on April 1, and sunflower procurement will commence on June 1.
To accommodate the large volume of wheat expected in mandis, Saini directed marketing board officials to construct large sheds at vacant spaces in mandis, ensuring protection against adverse weather conditions.
He was also briefed on the financial readiness of the procurement season. The finance department and the Reserve Bank of India have already approved a cash credit limit of Rs 6,653.44 crore to facilitate payments to farmers.
Saini reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to ensuring direct payment to farmers' bank accounts within 48 to 72 hours of issuing exit gate passes from mandis. He emphasised that bankers must adhere to this timeline.
Haryana ranks second in wheat production nationwide and contributes approximately 25% to the central pool, playing a crucial role in the country's food security.

To handle the large influx of crops, a network of 415 mandis will be operational for wheat procurement, along with 25 mandis for barley, 11 mandis for gram, seven mandis for lentils, 116 mandis for mustard, and 17 mandis for sunflower.
Haryana has set the following MSP rates for Rabi crops: wheat at Rs 2,425 per quintal, barley at Rs 1,980 per quintal, gram at Rs 5,650 per quintal, lentils at Rs 6,700 per quintal, mustard at Rs 5,950 per quintal, and sunflower at Rs 7,280 per quintal. Haryana remains the only state in India where all crops are purchased at MSP, ensuring fair compensation for farmers.
Saini instructed officials to prevent any shortages of gunny bags in mandis. He also directed commission agents to provide adequate seating arrangements for farmers waiting to sell their produce.
To support farmers and laborers, 53 Atal Kisan Mazdoor Canteens have been set up in mandis, ensuring that those involved in procurement have access to food during operations. All Deputy Commissioners have been ordered to form monitoring teams to oversee the procurement process and ensure smooth functioning throughout the season.
By taking these proactive measures, the Haryana government aims to streamline the Rabi crop procurement process, ensuring that farmers receive timely payments and that mandi operations run efficiently.
