Haryana DGP OP Singh conducted a surprise inspection at Gurugram’s Cyber Crime Police Station (East), posing as a digital arrest scam victim to assess the way the police handled the complaint. The sentry guided him to the investigating officer, explaining the filing process.
The DGP reviewed the police station’s functioning, victim assistance, response system and awareness framework. He praised the sentry’s uniform and name plate. After the inspection, he shared key steps to prevent cybercrimes, provide relief to victims and enhance public awareness. “The Haryana Police will hold banks responsible for compensating victims if negligence is found in cyber-fraud cases. The police will seek Lok Adalat’s help to quickly provide financial relief to victims,” said OP Singh.
The DGP emphasised on awareness campaigns and having cyber awareness ambassadors in schools and colleges to educate peers on cybercrime prevention. He warned citizens about cyber fraudsters exploiting fear and greed, urging them to stay alert and report suspicious activities on Cyber Helpline 1930. He said the Haryana Police are working to combat cybercrime, ensure justice for victims and enhance digital safety.
