Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) leader Ravindra Minna was shot dead in Panipat, Haryana, on Friday evening. The incident took place around 7:30 pm when Minna, 32, was allegedly gunned down by his neighbour using a licensed pistol.
Two other individuals were also shot and are currently undergoing treatment in critical condition. The accused fled the scene immediately after the attack in his vehicle, prompting a police search.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the shooting was the result of a family dispute involving the accused, identified as Ranbir, and his brother-in-law. Ranbir, a native of Jagsi village in Sonepat, lived in the same lane as Ravindra in Vikas Nagar, Panipat. According to eyewitness accounts, Ranbir arrived at a neighbor’s house that evening and asked for a glass of water.
Moments later, he suddenly pulled out a firearm and shot Vinay in the stomach. The gunfire alerted Ravindra and Vineet, who rushed to the scene to intervene. However, Ranbir immediately turned his weapon on them, shooting Ravindra in the forehead and Vineet in the abdomen before escaping.

Later, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and supported candidate Rohita Rewri before eventually returning to the JJP.
Panipat DSP Suresh Kumar Saini confirmed the incident, stating that Ravindra’s body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. A case has been registered based on statements provided by the victim’s family.
Law enforcement agencies are actively searching for Ranbir, and efforts are underway to ensure his swift arrest.
