Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Thursday alleged that corruption in Haryana has reached its peak under the BJP government.
Addressing a press conference in Rohtak, Hooda said even BJP leaders, MPs and MLAs admitted during a DISHA Committee meeting that roads built during the Congress regime are still intact after 10 years, while roads constructed under the BJP government fail within days.
He claimed that scams are emerging daily, which clearly shows widespread corruption under the current government. He said development work was carried out properly during the Congress rule, while corruption is now widespread.
Hooda also raised concerns over unemployment, citing NCRB data that shows an average of nine suicides daily in Haryana. He said youth are suffering from stress, unemployment and financial insecurity.
He alleged that the government is denying jobs to Haryana youth and giving opportunities to candidates from outside the state. He cited multiple recruitment processes, including Assistant Professor appointments, where a large number of selected candidates were from other states.
He welcomed the Punjab and Haryana High Court decision to quash the recruitment of Assistant Professors in English, calling it a victory for Haryana’s youth.
Hooda further alleged injustice in sanitation worker recruitment and said many employees recruited during the Congress regime are yet to be regularised and face salary delays.
He also claimed that Haryana’s debt has crossed ₹5 lakh crore and said the state has seen no major development projects under the BJP government. He warned that rising inflation and expected fuel price hikes would further burden the public.
Several Congress leaders, including MLAs Bharat Bhushan Batra, Shakuntala Khatak and Balram Dangi were present at the briefing.
