Shocking news has been reported in Haryana’s Panipat, where police uncovered a spine-chilling murder case. A woman has been arrested for murdering her niece, as she did not want anyone to look more beautiful than her.’
A woman, Poonam, stands accused of drowning her six-year-old niece in a water tub in Sonipat on Monday while the family was gathered for a wedding function. Police stated that this is not the first incident, claiming that the accused had previously killed three children, including her own son in 2023, by using the identical method of drowning.
The six-year-old victim, Vidhi, was attending a relative's wedding in Naultha village, Panipat, with her entire family when the incident occurred. The tragedy happened on Monday afternoon around 1:30 PM, shortly after the family left to join the wedding procession. Vidhi's father was soon informed that she was missing, and a search began immediately.
About an hour later, her grandmother, Omwati, found the child in a storeroom on the first floor of the relative's house. The storeroom door was bolted from the outside. Upon entering, Omwati discovered Vidhi's head submerged in a water tub, with her feet touching the ground.
She was immediately rushed to the hospital, where she was declared dead. Following this, a FIR was registered by Vidhi’s father. The family had already alleged that Vidhi might be dead.
Vidhi had travelled to Naultha from Sonipat with her grandparents, parents, and a 10-month-old brother.
