The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday reprimanded the Punjab government in the matter related to MP Harbhajan Singh’s security. The court said the state does not appear serious about the issue and reminded it of earlier directions to file a response without delay.
During the hearing, the Punjab government sought more time to submit its reply. The High Court expressed displeasure and questioned why additional time was being sought despite clear instructions in the previous hearing.
The court observed that it had already directed the state to file its response by the next date. It said the government should have complied with the order instead of seeking repeated extensions.
The Advocate General of Punjab again requested time during the hearing. After considering the request, the High Court granted a final opportunity and directed the state to file its response by next Wednesday.
The court also warned that if the response is not filed by the next hearing, the concerned official will have to appear personally before the court and explain the matter.
