The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast an active spell of monsoon across Himachal Pradesh from the night of July 18, with widespread rainfall expected to continue till July 24.
According to Meteorological Centre meteorologist Sandeep Sharma, rain is likely in almost all parts of the state during this period. Some areas, particularly the central districts and the plains, may receive heavy rainfall.
For July 18, heavy rain is expected at one or two places in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi districts. The weather department has issued a yellow alert for these districts.
The IMD has advised people to remain cautious, especially in areas prone to landslides, flash floods and waterlogging. Travellers and residents have also been urged to keep track of weather updates before planning their journeys.
The department said the active monsoon conditions could lead to localised disruptions in vulnerable areas and appealed to the public to follow advisories issued by the authorities.
