The Himachal Pradesh government on Friday decided to enhance the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for naturally produced crops. The MSP of naturally produced wheat has been increased from Rs 60 to Rs 80 per kg, maize from Rs 40 to Rs 50 per kg, barley from the Pangi Valley of Chamba district from Rs 60 to Rs 80 per kg, raw turmeric from Rs 90 to Rs 150 per kg, and ginger has been fixed at Rs 30 per kg under natural farming.

The state Cabinet, in its meeting held here under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, also decided to create and fill 1,000 posts of police constables in the Police Department.

An official spokesperson said the Cabinet further approved the creation and filling up of 500 posts of Assistant Forest Guards in the Forest Department, with a 50 per cent quota reserved for Van Mitras.

The Cabinet also decided to engage eight Naib Tehsildars, 20 Kanungos and 44 Patwaris from among retired officers and officials of the Revenue Department on fixed remuneration for deployment in the Forest Department. “The Cabinet also decided to engage 10 legal consultants in 10 territorial circles of the Forest Department,” the spokesperson said.

He said the Cabinet approved engagement of retired faculty members as professors in new medical colleges to address the acute shortage of teaching staff across various clinical and non-clinical specialities, ensuring effective functioning of these institutions.

It also decided to reorganise the administrative setup of divisions of the Jal Shakti Department in Sirmaur district on a constituency basis to facilitate better public service delivery.

The spokesperson said the Cabinet approved amendments to Rules 10(2) and 10(3) of the Himachal Pradesh Social Security (Pension/Allowance) Rules, 2010, to ensure timely disbursement of social security pensions.

The Cabinet also approved simplification of the fire NOC process, making it more streamlined and citizen-friendly. The revised norms aim to promote ease of doing business while benefiting residential building owners and strengthening fire safety measures.
