The summer holidays for all government and private schools in Hyderabad and other districts of Telangana have been extended, with the Telangana School Education Department revising the reopening date for the 2026-27 academic year. According to the latest orders issued by the Director of School Education, schools across the state will now reopen on June 15 instead of June 12. This decision follows several representations from various stakeholders requesting a change to the scheduled reopening date.

As June 13 and June 14  fall on the second Saturday and Sunday of the month respectively, the government decided that reopening schools on Monday, June 15 would be far more appropriate. To compensate for the academic time lost because of this postponement, the School Education Department has declared July 11 — which would normally be a second Saturday holiday — as a regular working day for all government and private schools throughout Telangana.

The department noted that this measure is essential to ensure that the required number of instructional days under the 2026-27 academic calendar is fully maintained. Consequently, the Director of School Education has instructed all relevant officials, including Regional Joint Directors of School Education and District Educational Officers, to take the necessary action and communicate this revised schedule to all schools within their jurisdiction. This directive applies strictly to all government and private institutions operating under the School Education Department across the entire state.
